In this house, you’re never yourself. And never alone.|Jun. 17, 2022|USA|102 Min.|PG-13
Genre: Horror
Description: “Abandoned 2022” is a gripping sci-fi drama set aboard an orbiting space station, where a small group of characters faces a colossal dilemma. The story unfolds as they gaze at Earth, now engulfed in a lethal toxic fog. Torn between the safety of their station and the moral obligation to save humanity below, they wrestle with the decision to risk their lives.

The film, “Rubikon,” directed by Leni Lauritsch, explores themes of isolation, responsibility, and societal duty. Though written before the COVID-19 pandemic, its narrative resonates deeply with the global crisis, highlighting how isolation can narrow perspectives even in the vastness of space.

On an emotional level, the movie examines how isolation fosters insularity, while on a moral level, it challenges viewers to weigh personal and familial responsibilities against the greater good. However, the exaggerated metaphor of humanity’s future versus three individuals in a confined space often feels too stark to fully resonate.

Despite its minimal cast and budget constraints, “Rubikon” delivers a thought-provoking tale of survival, ethics, and the human condition.
