Description: August Underground (2001) is a disturbing film centered around Peter, a deranged serial killer, and his accomplice, who documents their violent crimes on camera. The story begins with Peter holding a woman named Laura captive in his basement. Laura’s boyfriend has already been brutally murdered, and the duo proceeds to subject her to horrific torture, including mutilation and humiliation. Eventually, Laura dies from the abuse.
The pair continues their spree by picking up a female hitchhiker, forcing her into an act of oral sex, and leaving her severely beaten on the side of the road. After being ejected from a concert for unruly behavior, they return home only to discover Laura’s lifeless body.
Their rampage escalates as Peter murders an elderly woman in her home and terrorizes a convenience store with his accomplice. They abandon their plans to kidnap the store clerk or a shopper when police sirens are heard approaching. Later, they visit a tattoo parlor, where they capture and brutally murder the tattoo artist and his twin brother.
The violence intensifies during a drug-fueled orgy with prostitutes. Peter savagely assaults one prostitute while the other attempts to escape. In the ensuing chaos, the accomplice drops the camera, resulting in a moment of eerie silence.
