Description: “Bali” is an upcoming Indian Marathi horror film directed by Vishal Furia and produced by GSEAMS. The movie, backed by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartik Nishandar, stars Swwapnil Joshi and Pooja Sawant in pivotal roles. The plot centers around a widowed father and his seven-year-old son, whose life takes a dramatic turn when the boy begins communicating with a mysterious nurse. Initially planned for a theatrical release on April 16, 2021, the film’s launch was delayed due to the pandemic. It is now set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on December 9, 2021.
The story unfolds as the young boy falls ill and is hospitalized, where he claims to interact with a nurse residing in a desolate section of the hospital. Swwapnil Joshi was confirmed for the lead role in November 2019, and filming wrapped up in February 2020. Post-production began in June 2020.
Meanwhile, smaller regional film industries like Marathi, Bengali, and Punjabi continue to struggle amid the pandemic, with estimated losses nearing Rs. 600 crore. These industries, lacking the substantial budgets of Hindi, Tamil, or Telugu cinema, face mounting challenges, including stalled projects and limited interest from major streaming platforms.
The film’s backdrop also highlights Bali’s struggles post-pandemic reopening. Despite Bali’s international airport reopening on October 14, the island has yet to see international tourists return, leaving locals like Dicky, a beach vendor, bewildered by the absence of visitors.
“Bali” promises to deliver a gripping horror narrative while reflecting the broader challenges faced by regional cinema and global tourism during these uncertain times.
