**Storyline:**
Thousands of years ago, five African tribes fought over a meteorite containing the rare metal vibranium. One warrior consumed a heart-shaped herb influenced by the metal, gaining superhuman abilities and becoming the first Black Panther. He united all tribes except the Jabari to form the nation of Wakanda. Over centuries, Wakandans used vibranium to develop advanced technology while concealing their advancements by presenting themselves as a Third World nation.

In 1992, Wakandan King T’Chaka visited his brother N’Jobu, who was undercover in Oakland, California. T’Chaka accused N’Jobu of aiding black-market arms dealer Ulysses Klaue in stealing vibranium from Wakanda. N’Jobu’s partner, Zuri, another undercover Wakandan, confirmed T’Chaka’s suspicions.

In the present, after T’Chaka’s death, his son T’Challa returns to Wakanda to claim the throne. Accompanied by Okoye, the leader of the Dora Milaje, T’Challa retrieves his ex-lover Nakia from an undercover mission to attend his coronation. During the ceremony, M’Baku, leader of the Jabari Tribe, challenges T’Challa for the throne in ritual combat. T’Challa defeats M’Baku and convinces him to surrender rather than die.

When Klaue and Erik Stevens steal a Wakandan artifact from a London museum, T’Challa’s friend W’Kabi urges him to capture Klaue alive. T’Challa, Okoye, and Nakia track Klaue to Busan, South Korea, where he plans to sell the artifact to CIA agent Everett K. Ross. A firefight breaks out, and Klaue is captured by T’Challa but handed over to Ross. Klaue reveals Wakanda’s true nature as an advanced civilization. Erik attacks and frees Klaue, leaving Ross severely injured while protecting Nakia. T’Challa prioritizes saving Ross by taking him to Wakanda for treatment.
