Description: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a 2022 American superhero movie inspired by the Marvel Comics character, Black Panther. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it serves as the sequel to the 2018 film *Black Panther* and is the 30th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Directed by Ryan Coogler, who co-wrote the script with Joe Robert Cole, the movie features Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Dominique Thorne, Florence Kasumba, Michaela Coel, Tenoch Huerta, Martin Freeman, and Angela Bassett. The story follows the leaders of Wakanda as they strive to protect their nation following the death of King T’Challa.
Plans for the sequel began shortly after the success of *Black Panther* in 2018. Coogler was confirmed to return as director in 2019. However, the film’s direction shifted after the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed T’Challa, in August 2020 due to colon cancer. Marvel decided not to recast the role, and the remaining main cast from the first movie was confirmed by November 2020. The title *Wakanda Forever* was announced in May 2021.
Filming took place from late June to early November 2021 in Atlanta, Brunswick, Georgia, and Massachusetts. Production was briefly paused to allow Letitia Wright to recover from an on-set injury before resuming in mid-January 2022. Shooting concluded in late March in Puerto Rico. The movie premiered in Hollywood on October 26, 2022, and was released in the U.S. on November 11, 2022, marking the conclusion of Phase Four of the MCU.
*Black Panther: Wakanda Forever* received acclaim from critics, who praised the performances of the cast, particularly Wright, Huerta, and Bassett. The film’s emotional depth, direction, action sequences, musical score, and tribute to Boseman were also highlighted as standout elements.
