Description: The film begins with the protagonist, Zainab, portrayed by Humaima Malick, on the verge of being executed. Before this tragic event, she shares her life story with the media. Zainab grew up in a household with six sisters, her mother, and her father, who desperately wanted a son to help with the family’s financial struggles. The father, Hakim, held strong beliefs against women being employed. The family also had an intersex child named Syed Saifullah Khan, or Saifi, played by Amr Kashmiri. While Saifi was deeply loved by the rest of the family, Hakim rejected him due to his intersex identity.
Zainab’s life takes a turn when she marries a man who constantly harasses her for not bearing children. Unable to endure the mistreatment, she returns to her father’s home. Meanwhile, Zainab’s mother continues to give birth to stillborn babies. To help her, Zainab arranges a tubal ligation for her mother, which angers Hakim when he discovers it.
One day, Zainab is disturbed to see Saifi dressed in women’s clothing. Hakim, who runs a traditional pharmacy, is approached by a man named Saqa, played by Ishaq, who asks him to teach the Quran to children. Despite initially refusing due to Saqa’s involvement in a brothel, Hakim eventually agrees, as he is a religious man connected to the mosque. The mosque entrusts him with funds, believing him to be reliable.
In another part of the story, Saifi faces discrimination when he gets a job at a truck painting workshop through Mustafa, played by Atif Aslam, a neighbor. Tragically, Saifi is eventually raped. An intersex individual, portrayed by Almas Bobby—a transgender person in real life—finds him and brings him home. When Hakim overhears Saifi recounting the assault to his mother and Zainab, he suffocates Saifi to death with a plastic bag while everyone sleeps. To cover up the crime, Hakim bribes a police officer with two lakhs, forcing him to use money from the mosque’s funds.
The film explores themes of gender identity, family dynamics, and societal prejudices, shedding light on the struggles faced by marginalized individuals.
