Description: “Colour Photo” is a 2020 Indian Telugu-language period romantic drama film directed by debutant Sandeep Raj. Produced by Amrutha Productions and Loukya Entertainment, the movie marks Suhas’s first lead role, alongside Chandini Chowdary and Sunil. The music was composed by Kaala Bhairava, in his second project as a composer after “Mathu Vadalara.” Set in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, during the late 1990s, the film tells the story of a “below-average guy.” It premiered on the streaming platform aha on October 23, 2020, and features several newcomers, including director Sandeep Raj, who previously worked on short films.
The film was entirely shot in Machilipatnam, Vijayawada, and nearby areas in Andhra Pradesh. The story begins with Deepthi learning about her father’s death. She travels to her village with her husband, Chandu, to meet her family. Her brother, Ramaraju, a local sub-inspector, attempts to speak with her, but she dismisses him and heads to her ex-boyfriend Jayakrishna’s house in his jeep. Accompanied by her friend Padmaja, Deepthi witnesses a couple arguing, which reminds her of her past with Jayakrishna. She then recounts her story.
Jayakrishna, a milkman’s son, attended the same college as Deepthi. He fell in love with her after seeing her rehearse for a performance as a goddess. However, unlike Deepthi, he was dark-skinned and from a poor background, which made him hesitant to express his feelings. A year later, seniors tricked Jayakrishna into attending Deepthi’s rehearsal, leading to their false accusation of him “teasing girls.” Deepthi and her friends clarified the situation to the principal, saving Jayakrishna from trouble. Despite this, he avoided them to prevent misunderstandings. Eventually, Deepthi confessed her feelings and proposed a secret relationship. With her support, Jayakrishna confronted and defeated the seniors who had wronged him, gaining confidence and courage in the process.
