Description: Raj Malhotra and Simran Singh, both non-resident Indians living in London, come from different family backgrounds. Simran is raised by her conservative father, Baldev Singh, and her mother, Lajwanti, while Raj is brought up by his liberal father, Dharamvir Malhotra. Simran dreams of finding her ideal partner, but her mother advises her not to rely too much on such dreams. One day, Baldev receives a letter from his friend Ajit in Punjab, reminding him of their promise to marry Simran to Ajit’s son, Kuljeet. Disheartened by the idea of marrying someone she has never met, Simran feels conflicted.
Meanwhile, Raj encounters Baldev when he tries to buy beer from his shop after closing hours. Baldev refuses, but Raj takes the beer anyway, leaving money behind. Baldev, furious, labels Raj a disgrace to their heritage. Raj’s father later allows him to go on a train trip across Europe with his friends. Coincidentally, Simran’s friends invite her on the same trip. After convincing her father to let her travel before her marriage, Simran joins the journey.
