Description: Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Mantri is a 2021 Indian Bengali fantasy comedy film directed by Aniket Chattopadhyay and produced by Dev Entertainment Ventures. Inspired by stories by Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumder, the movie premiered on Jalsha Movies on October 10, 2021, during the Puja holiday season.

The story revolves around Hobu Chandra, the benevolent king of Bombagarh, known for his kindness and generosity. Under his rule, his subjects lived happily with ample food and resources. Assisting him was a wise, elderly prime minister whose counsel was highly valued. The kingdom thrived in harmony until the king married Princess Kusumkumari of Chandragarh, a joyous celebration filled with music, dance, and magic.

One day, a mysterious outsider named Gobu Chandra from the Gujjar Kingdom arrived in Bombagarh. Unlike the locals, his appearance and demeanor stood out. Gobu showcased his ability to create wealth effortlessly, impressing the king. He soon convinced Hobu Chandra to appoint him as the new prime minister, replacing the old one. Gobu’s rise to power brought drastic changes. He provided the king and queen with special glasses that presented a fabricated reality, making them believe their people were content when the kingdom was actually descending into chaos.

Under Gobu’s influence, the king made irrational decisions. For instance, when sweet sellers complained about losses due to poor sales, the king absurdly fixed the price of Rasgulla equal to that of puffed rice (Muri). In another bizarre event, when a thief died due to a collapsing wall, Gobu insisted on investigating a murder despite no evidence of foul play.

The film blends fantasy and comedy, depicting the turmoil and absurdity that engulf Bombagarh following the rise of Gobu Chandra.
