Description: The 2012 film “Kahaani” follows the story of Vidya Bagchi, a pregnant software engineer who travels from London to Kolkata during the Durga Puja festival in search of her missing husband, Arnab Bagchi. After a poison-gas attack on a Kolkata Metro Rail compartment kills all passengers two years earlier, Vidya seeks answers. She teams up with police officer Satyoki “Rana” Sinha for assistance.
Vidya claims her husband was assigned to the National Data Center (NDC), but initial investigations reveal no record of Arnab’s employment. Agnes D’Mello, the NDC’s HR head, suggests Vidya’s husband resembles former employee Milan Damji. Before Agnes can provide further help, she is killed by Bob Biswas, a hitman posing as an insurance agent. Vidya and Rana locate Damji’s file in the old NDC office, narrowly escaping Bob, who is also after the information.
Their investigation draws the attention of Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials in Delhi, who reveal Damji was a rogue agent behind the poison-gas attack. Despite warnings, Vidya continues her search, fearing her husband’s resemblance to Damji has put him in danger. The address on Damji’s file leads Vidya and Rana to a rundown flat. A tea stall employee identifies R. Sridhar, an NDC officer, as a frequent visitor.
Bob attempts to kill Vidya but dies during a chase. Examining Bob’s phone leads Vidya and Rana to an IP address targeting her. They break into Sridhar’s office to verify the IP, but he returns unexpectedly. A struggle ensues, and Vidya accidentally shoots Sridhar, frustrating the IB, who wanted him alive. The story unfolds as Vidya uncovers the truth behind her husband’s disappearance.
