Description: Sleevachan lacks confidence when he gets married, but will he manage to earn his bride’s love and respect? *Kettiyolaanu Ente Malaka* is a film that proves it’s not always about how unique or thrilling the plot is, but rather how the story is presented. Directed by Nisam Basheer, this movie beautifully narrates a simple tale about falling in love after marriage.
The story follows Asif Ali, who plays Sleevachan, a young farmer who hadn’t considered marriage until he returns home one day to find his elderly mother unconscious. His decision to marry isn’t driven by romance but rather by necessity. However, he’s a kind-hearted man, and Asif Ali perfectly portrays the role of a beloved younger brother.
Trouble arises when Sleevachan struggles with the idea of consummating his marriage with his young bride, played by Veena Nandakumar, who delivers a restrained yet impactful performance. When he finally attempts to be intimate, things go terribly wrong, and the background score effectively captures his anxiety.
From this low point, the film focuses on how Sleevachan works to mend the situation. He initially tells his wife to forget the incident but later realizes his mistake and takes steps to make their marriage work. Credit goes to the cast, director, and scriptwriter Aji Peter Thankam for handling such a sensitive subject with care, avoiding insensitive humor, and maintaining balanced gender dynamics.
*Kettiyollaanu Ente Maalakha* is a heartfelt and well-crafted film that highlights the importance of understanding and effort in relationships.
