Description: Krantiveer (1994) is a Hindi film that tells the story of Pratap Tilak, the grandson of a freedom fighter named Bheeshmanarayan Tilak. Pratap’s gambling habits lead to the tragic death of his grandfather, which angers his mother, Durgadevi. She forces him to leave the village. Pratap moves to Mumbai, where he saves the life of Atul, the son of a chawl owner, Laxminath. Grateful for his bravery, Laxminath takes Pratap in. As they grow older, Atul falls in love with Mamta, the daughter of a builder named Yograj.
Pratap often ridicules Megha Dixit, a journalist living in the chawl, who fights against injustice through her writings. However, he inspires people to stand strong and fight for their rights instead of relying on others. Meanwhile, Chattursingh Chita and Yograj plan to build a resort by inciting communal riots, mass killings, and burning down homes. Laxminath is murdered by Chattursingh Chita, and Pratap discovers that Megha’s parents were also killed by him, and she was a victim of his violence.
Pratap proposes to Megha, offering her support. Meanwhile, Mamta leaves her father’s home to be with Atul. Pratap takes matters into his own hands, killing corrupt officials, including ministers, a judge, and a police officer. He is eventually captured and sentenced to death by hanging. Chattursingh Chita attempts to kill Pratap but is defeated by him. The story highlights Pratap’s courage as he faces injustice, willing to sacrifice his life for the greater good. Just before his execution, a lawyer arrives with news that Pratap has been pardoned by the President. This concludes the tale of a man who fearlessly fought against oppression.
