**Storyline:**
In Bangalore, 1980, a once-famous actress named Savitri is discovered unconscious by her son. She is hospitalized and remains in a coma for a year. The incident attracts media attention, but details of Savitri’s early life remain a mystery. Madhuravani, a journalist with a stutter, and Vijay Anthony, a photographer, are assigned to write an article about Savitri’s condition. During her research, Madhuravani finds a letter written by Savitri, expressing her wish to take her son to someone named “Shankarayya.” Although her editor later relieves her of the assignment, Madhuravani continues her investigation out of curiosity. She secretly enters Savitri’s house and overhears her aunt discussing Savitri’s childhood.
In Vijayawada, 1942, a widowed Subadrama and her young daughter Savitri are taken in by Subadrama’s sister, Durgamba, and her husband, KV Chowdary, though Chowdary is unhappy about the arrangement. Savitri grows up to become a talented dancer, performing in plays with her friend Susheela, which brings Chowdary some income. However, as cinema gains popularity, play attendance declines, causing significant financial losses for Chowdary. He attempts to help Savitri enter the film industry in Madras, but her young age and inability to speak Tamil pose challenges. During this time, she meets Ramasamy “Gemini” Ganesan, a studio employee who takes her photograph for a casting directory. A year later, Savitri is cast in a film directed by L. V. Prasad, but she struggles with her lines and is eventually removed. However, she secures a dancing role in the film *Pathala Bhairavi*, and her performance helps her land more significant roles.
Savitri is eventually offered a role opposite Ganesan, now a successful actor, who teaches her the Tamil language. Together, they rise to become superstars, and Savitri falls in love with the married Ganesan. They secretly marry, leading to tensions with Savitri’s family.
