Description: Mission Mangal is a 2019 Indian film available in various resolutions like 1080p, 720p, and 480p. Set in Bengaluru at ISRO, the story begins with the failed launch of GSLV-F06 on December 25, 2010. Tara Shinde, the Project Director, makes a minor error, but her colleague Rakesh Dhawan takes the blame and is reassigned to the Mangalyaan project as a consequence. Meanwhile, Rupert Desai, a NASA scientist of Indian origin, is appointed to lead the new GSLV missions. The Mars Orbiter Mission (MoM), also known as Mangalyaan, is deemed impossible by many due to its ambitious goal of reaching Mars on a limited budget.
Rakesh discovers that the MoM cannot be launched using the PSLV because the current technology supports only a 1500 kg payload, and there isn’t enough fuel to propel the rocket over the vast distance of approximately 55 million kilometers. The GSLV, which had a payload capacity of 2300 kg, could have achieved this, but its repeated failures have cast doubt on future missions.
At home, Tara struggles to balance her career and family responsibilities. While frying puris, she gets an idea from her maid about managing gas usage. Tara realizes that the MoM can be launched using the PSLV by employing bursts of gas to push the satellite into Earth’s outer orbit and then using Earth’s gravity to slingshot it forward, conserving fuel. She shares this idea with Rakesh, who agrees. Together, they convince their skeptical team members and the ISRO Director to support the mission.
However, when Tara and Rakesh ask Rupert for experienced team members, he assigns them junior scientists and engineers with little experience. Among them is Eka Gandhi, a propulsion control expert who is critical of Indian culture and dreams of working at NASA.
