Description: In the ruins of a large burned-down house, a renowned poet struggling with writer’s block places a crystal object on a pedestal in his study. The charred house transforms into a beautiful home in a serene, Eden-like landscape. Mother, the poet’s wife and muse, wakes up and wonders where her husband is. While renovating the house, she starts noticing unsettling things, including a beating heart within its walls.
One day, a stranger named Man arrives, claiming to be a doctor, and asks to stay. The poet agrees, and Mother reluctantly allows it. That night, Man suffers from dry-heaves, and Mother sees a wound on his side. The next day, Man’s wife, Woman, also arrives. Mother grows increasingly frustrated with the guests, but her husband insists they stay, revealing Man is a dying fan who wanted to meet him. When Man and Woman accidentally break the crystal object, which was forbidden to touch, the poet becomes angry, and Mother forces them to leave.
Before they can depart, their two sons arrive and fight over their father’s will. The older son, who stands to inherit nothing, severely wounds his brother and flees. The poet, Man, and Woman take the injured son for help. Alone in the house, Mother discovers a trail of blood leading to a hidden oil tank in the basement.
Upon returning, the poet informs Mother that the son has died. That night, dozens of people arrive unannounced to mourn the deceased. Their rude and intrusive behavior angers Mother, especially when they break a sink and flood part of the house. She orders them out and confronts her husband for neglecting her needs. Their argument ends in passionate lovemaking. The next morning, Mother reveals she is pregnant, bringing joy to the poet and inspiring him to complete his work.
