Description: “Pathu Thala” (translated as “Ten-Headed”) is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language neo-noir action thriller directed by Obeli N. Krishna. It is a remake of the 2017 Kannada film “Mufti.” The film features Silambarasan and Gautham Karthik in lead roles, with supporting performances by Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Kalaiyarasan, Teejay Arunasalam, and Anu Sithara. Initially announced on December 24, 2020, the movie was released on March 30, 2023, receiving positive reviews from critics.
The story begins with the Chief Minister launching a medical vaccine camp, attended by Deputy CM Naanjilar Gunasekharan, who is at odds with AG Ravana (AGR). That night, the CM disappears, prompting the CBI to investigate AGR’s associate, Ammer. When confronted by authorities, Ammer takes his own life. The narrative shifts to Vishakapatnam, where Gunalan (Guna), a man tied up by goons, fights back and defeats them. Guna is then sent to meet AGR, but his true identity is revealed as Sakthivel, an undercover cop on a mission to arrest AGR.
After clashing with AGR’s associate Selvin, Sakthi encounters Leela Thompson, a Tahsildar who tries to intercept AGR’s vehicles. A flashback reveals the romantic history and breakup between Sakthi and Leela. The plot thickens when AGR’s team plans to steal 400 crores from a goods train. Selvin and his crew abandon the plan due to police presence, but Sakthi heroically retrieves the money. This gains him AGR’s trust, culminating in Sakthi saving AGR from an assassination attempt by Naanjilar. AGR retaliates by confronting Naanjilar, escalating their deadly rivalry.
