Amanda, a passionate dancer, suffers a knee injury during a school pep rally performance. She is taken to the hospital, where she is prescribed hydrocodone for pain relief. Back at school, Amanda is approached by Riley, who asks for one of her pills. Though hesitant, Amanda agrees.
As Amanda resumes dancing, her friend Alexis becomes envious. Outside school, Riley introduces Amanda to her boyfriend, Nate, and her brother, Carson. Amanda starts spending time with the group and, despite initial reluctance, shares her prescription medication with them.
When Amanda injures her knee again, she receives a new prescription of hydrocodone. However, she is hurt to see Carson with his ex-girlfriend, Bridget, and begins spending more time with Riley, who encourages her to pursue Carson. One day, while hanging out with Riley, Nate, and Carson, Amanda starts forming a bond with Carson.
During an old woman’s garage sale, the group sneaks into her house, steals oxycodone, and flees. Under the influence of the drugs, Amanda and Carson share a kiss, and their connection deepens. However, as Amanda’s tolerance to hydrocodone increases, she begins taking the pills frequently. When her prescription runs out, she experiences withdrawal symptoms, including sluggishness and vomiting.
At a pharm party, Amanda catches Carson kissing Bridget. Hurt, she avoids him until her birthday, where he attempts to reconcile by recreating a scene from her favorite movie, *Say Anything…*, and presenting a slideshow of their time together in hopes of winning her forgiveness.
