Description: In 2019, “Queen,” a black criminal defense attorney, faces a difficult day after one of her clients is executed by the state. She meets “Slim” for an awkward and disappointing Tinder date at an Ohio diner. As Slim drives her home, they are stopped by a white police officer. The officer searches Slim and his car without reason. When Slim politely asks the officer to hurry because it’s cold outside, the officer draws his gun. Queen angrily confronts the officer, reaching for her phone, and he shoots her in the leg. A struggle follows, and Slim ends up shooting the officer. Realizing they will be imprisoned if caught, Queen convinces Slim they must flee.

Running out of fuel, they stop a Latino driver, Edgar, who turns out to be a Kentucky sheriff. He learns about the officer’s death via an APB and realizes they are the suspects. Queen and Slim take his truck at gunpoint, leaving him in Slim’s car. Later, they ask a young black boy to order food for them, and he reveals that a video of their confrontation has gone viral. Accidentally hitting the boy’s father with the truck, they take him to the hospital. The father supports them, knowing the officer Slim shot had killed an unarmed black man two years earlier.

Arriving in New Orleans, they stay with Queen’s estranged uncle, Earl, a pimp. Slim suggests they escape to Cuba as their only way out.
