Description: **The 40-Year-Old Virgin**
**Storyline:**
Andy Stitzer, a reserved 40-year-old man, works as a stock supervisor at Smart Tech, an electronics store. Having faced repeated failures in his attempts to lose his virginity, he lives alone in an apartment filled with action figures and video games. During a poker game with his co-workers David, Jay, and Cal, the topic of past sexual experiences arises, revealing Andy’s secret. The next day, Andy is horrified to discover that his co-workers, including his boss Paula, now know about his virginity. Paula, who is attracted to him, privately offers to help him lose it. Humiliated, Andy considers quitting his job, but David reassures him and encourages him to try again, leading the group to take it upon themselves to assist him.

David, Jay, and Cal each offer conflicting advice on how to approach women. David invites Andy to a speed dating event, where he unsuccessfully tries to reconnect with his ex-girlfriend Amy. Jay drags Andy to various social gatherings, arranges a painful chest waxing session, and sets him up with a transvestite prostitute, all of which result in embarrassment. Cal advises Andy to be confident and ask women questions rather than talking about himself, which he practices with Beth, a bookstore clerk who becomes interested in him. David also gives Andy his adult film collection, encouraging him to explore himself.

Eventually, Andy starts dating Trish Piedmont, a customer he meets. Their first date nearly leads to intimacy but is interrupted by Trish’s teenage daughter, Marla. Trish suggests they wait until their twentieth date, and Andy agrees. Over the following weeks, their relationship blossoms as Trish supports Andy’s dream of starting his own business, even helping him fund it by selling his collectibles.

“The 40-Year-Old Virgin” is a comedic exploration of self-discovery, friendship, and love as Andy navigates his journey with the help of his well-meaning yet often misguided friends.
