**Storyline:**
In 1997, Rachel is honored by her daughter Sarah at a book release party in Tel Aviv. Sarah’s book is based on the events of 1965, as recounted by Rachel, Stefan, and David. Meanwhile, David is taken from his apartment by an Israeli government agent for questioning. Upon seeing Stefan waiting in another vehicle, David, unable to face their shared lie, steps in front of an oncoming truck and dies.
In 1965, Rachel Singer, a young Mossad agent on her first field mission, arrives in East Berlin to join experienced agents David Peretz and Stefan Gold. Their mission is to capture Nazi war criminal Dieter Vogel, known as “The Surgeon of Birkenau” for his horrific medical experiments on Jews during World War II, and bring him to Israel for trial. Posing as a married couple from Argentina, Rachel and David visit Vogel’s obstetrics clinic, where Rachel becomes a patient.
During an appointment, Rachel injects Vogel with a sedative and convinces the nurse he’s had a heart attack. Stefan and David, dressed as paramedics, take the unconscious Vogel in an ambulance. They attempt to escape by train, but Vogel wakes up and sounds the van’s horn, alerting guards. Amid gunfire, David rescues Rachel, and the agents are forced to take Vogel to their apartment to plan a new extraction.
In the apartment, the agents take turns monitoring and feeding Vogel, keeping him chained to a wall heater. During his shift, David becomes enraged when Vogel claims Jews have inherent weaknesses, making them easy to control. David violently attacks Vogel, hitting Rachel accidentally in the process. Stefan intervenes and restrains David, pulling him out of the room.
