Description: “The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir” (2018) is a captivating film available in English, offered in both 720p and 480p resolutions.
The story revolves around Ajatashatru “Aja” Lavash Patel, played by Dhanush, a street magician and trickster from Mumbai who deceives people into believing he has supernatural abilities. Aja shares his life story with three children who are facing a four-year judicial custody.
After the sudden death of his mother, Aja embarks on a journey to Paris with a counterfeit €100 note in search of his estranged father. In Paris, he meets Marie Riviere, portrayed by Erin Moriarty, at a furniture store. Although he initially scams her, he is soon drawn to her personality.
Aja’s adventure takes him across the globe. He travels from Paris to London hidden in an IKEA wardrobe, then to Rome inside a Louis Vuitton suitcase, and finally to Tripoli, Libya, via a hot air balloon. On a ship to Libya, he is robbed of the money he earned by selling a shirt with a moving childhood story written on it.
In Libya, Aja reunites with Wiraj, a Somali illegal immigrant he met earlier in London, played by Barkhad Abdi. With Wiraj and a group of friends, he retrieves his stolen money. In a refugee camp, Aja selflessly distributes the money among the residents, keeping only enough for a fake passport and a ticket back to India.
Before returning home, Aja visits Paris again, where he finds Marie now in a relationship with someone else. Back in India, he becomes a schoolteacher. Eventually, Marie visits him, revealing she has ended her engagement, and the two share a heartfelt kiss.
Aja concludes his tale by offering the children a deal: they can avoid their four-year custody if they attend his school daily. The film ends with a friend questioning the authenticity of Aja’s story, to which he replies, “Only the important parts.”
