Description: In September 1985, John Kreese, left broke and desperate after losing his students due to his violent actions toward Johnny Lawrence (from *The Karate Kid Part II*), seeks help from his Vietnam War friend, Terry Silver. Silver, a wealthy businessman and founder of Cobra Kai who runs a toxic-waste disposal company, promises to assist Kreese in seeking revenge against Daniel and Mr. Miyagi while rebuilding Cobra Kai. Kreese is sent to Tahiti to recover. Meanwhile, Daniel and Miyagi return to Los Angeles from Okinawa only to find the South Seas apartment complex under renovation, leaving Miyagi jobless and Daniel without a home. With Daniel’s mother, Lucille, in New Jersey caring for his sick Uncle Louie, Miyagi offers Daniel a place to stay. Daniel uses his college savings to support Miyagi’s dream of opening a bonsai shop, becoming his business partner. While visiting a nearby pottery store, Daniel meets Jessica Andrews. Although he briefly develops feelings for her, she mentions her boyfriend, and they decide to remain friends. Terry Silver hires Mike Barnes, a ruthless karate fighter known as “Karate’s Bad Boy,” to challenge Daniel at the upcoming All-Valley Karate Tournament. Silver secretly gathers information at Miyagi’s home and learns that Daniel has decided not to defend his title. Barnes and his associates, Snake and Dennis, harass Daniel to force him to participate, but he continues to refuse. Later, Silver lies to Daniel and Miyagi, claiming that John Kreese died of a heart attack after losing his students, and asks for forgiveness for Kreese’s past actions. When Barnes and his gang return to pressure Daniel into signing up for the tournament, a fight breaks out, which Miyagi ends by driving them away. After escorting Jessica home, Daniel and Miyagi return to find their bonsai trees stolen and a tournament application left behind. Despite Daniel reporting the theft to the police, they dismiss his concerns.
