Description: Anna Fox, a child psychologist, lives alone in her Manhattan brownstone apartment after separating from her husband, Edward, and their daughter, Olivia. She communicates with them regularly but struggles with agoraphobia, which confines her to her home. To pass the time, Anna observes her neighbors from her second-story window, particularly the Russell family, who recently moved in nearby. Consumed by medications and alcohol, Anna’s life takes a turn when Jane Russell, her new neighbor, visits her. The two bond over wine and a card game, and Anna also meets Jane’s teenage son, Ethan, who reveals his father Alistair’s abusive behavior.
One night, Anna witnesses Jane being stabbed in her living room. She immediately reports the incident to the police, but they dismiss her claims, insisting the family is unharmed. Confusion deepens when Alistair appears with a woman he introduces as Jane, who looks entirely different from the person Anna met earlier. Determined to uncover the truth, Anna begins spying on the Russell family and questions her tenant, David, who lives in her basement. David denies hearing or seeing anything suspicious, but Anna later discovers Jane’s earring in his room and learns about his criminal past and parole violations.
As Anna’s mental state deteriorates, she receives an anonymous email containing a photo of herself sleeping. This leads to a confrontation with the detectives, the Russells, and David, during which Anna has a nervous breakdown. It is revealed that Anna’s husband and daughter died in a car accident she caused, leaving her traumatized and agoraphobic. Her hallucinations, fueled by her medication, blur the line between reality and imagination, leaving Anna struggling to discern the truth amidst her spiraling mind.
