When you can live forever, what do you live for?|Nov. 20, 2008|USA|122 Min.|PG-13
Genre: Drama;Fantasy;Romance
Description: Bella Swan, a seventeen-year-old introverted girl, relocates from Phoenix, Arizona, to Forks, Washington, on the Olympic Peninsula to live with her father, Charlie Swan, the town’s police chief. Her mother, Renée Dwyer, is traveling with her new husband, Phil Dwyer, a minor league baseball player. Bella enrolls at Forks High School, where she quickly befriends a group of students. Despite being shy and inexperienced, she finds herself pursued by several boys competing for her attention.

On her first day of school, Bella encounters Edward Cullen, a mysterious and strikingly handsome boy who seems irritated by her presence. In biology class, Edward appears repulsed by her, leaving Bella confused. After a brief absence, he returns and unexpectedly becomes friendly toward her. Their relationship takes a dramatic turn when Edward saves Bella from being hit by a van in the school parking lot, stopping the vehicle with his bare hands. When Bella questions how he managed to save her, Edward remains evasive.

During a camping trip, Bella meets Jacob Black, a local boy from the Quileute tribe. Jacob reveals that Edward and his family are vampires who only consume animal blood. Troubled by this revelation and plagued by nightmares, Bella researches vampires and finds eerie similarities between the Cullen family and the mythical creatures. Convinced of Edward’s true nature, she becomes both fascinated and confused by him.

Edward rescues Bella again in Port Angeles when she is nearly attacked by a group of men. Frustrated, Edward takes her to a restaurant for dinner and then drives her home. During their conversation, Bella confronts him about his identity as a vampire. Realizing there is no point in hiding, Edward admits the truth. He confesses that Bella’s blood is irresistibly appealing to him and that he initially wanted to kill her on their first meeting. However, he stayed away to protect her. Over time, their bond deepens, and Edward and Bella fall in love.
