Description: Vikram, released in 2022, is an Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International. The movie features Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles, with Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, and Arjun Das in supporting roles. The soundtrack and film score were composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while Girish Gangadharan handled cinematography, and Philomin Raj took charge of editing. Principal photography began on July 16, 2021, and the film was released theatrically on June 3, 2022.
Although the film shares its title with the 1986 movie starring Kamal Haasan, it is not a direct sequel. However, the prologue of Vikram, released in 2020, included a remixed version of the theme song from the original film.
The story unfolds after Inspector Bejoy seizes an illegal consignment belonging to Adaikalam and Anbu. Two drug containers go missing, leading Santhanam, a gang leader, to assign his men to retrieve them, as their recovery would help him establish his own government. Meanwhile, a group of masked individuals begins assassinating high-ranking police officers in Chennai.
Prapanchan, an NCB official, is among those killed. His father, Karnan, a retired cop and skilled shooter known as Vikram, sets out to avenge his son’s death. What begins as a personal vendetta transforms into a larger mission as Vikram uncovers deeper conspiracies. Jose, the Chief of the Chennai City Police, assembles a black-ops team led by Amar to investigate the killings. Amar delves into Vikram’s life and discovers that his true target is Santhanam. The film explores Vikram’s motives and his quest to dismantle the criminal gang.
Lokesh Kanagaraj was signed by Kamal Haasan’s production house in November 2019 to direct the film. Kanagaraj, who has openly expressed admiration for Haasan’s work, cited Sathya (1988) and Virumaandi (2004) as significant influences on his decision to become a director. Due to prior commitments, both the director and the production house delayed the project until July 2021.
Vikram is available in multiple audio formats, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, all in one file. The film is offered in various resolutions, such as 4K, 1080p, 720p, and 480p, for viewers to enjoy.
